This pin is based off of the real-life newt,  Neurergus kaiseri!  It is endemic to a very small number of streams in Iran.

However, Kaiser's Newts encountered in the faunwood forest look a little... different.  With twinkling stars that are unique to each individual specimen, a population of newts encountered on a moonless evening can look exactly like the night sky.  Stories have told of a wandering traveller becoming disoriented and going completely mad after finding themselves in the middle of a massive swarm, the likes of which have never been observed in any scientific study. ✧ · ˙ ˙ · . .
